"Soil and Soul" with Green Living Lab

In this workshop you will get to understand what soil is, in both folkloric and scientific ways and why is it so important for us humans. You’ll also learn how to compost organic waste at home and what you can do to help the soil in your city.

This workshop will focus on the soil food web and there will be a fieldwork challenge alongside a Q&A where you will get to ask all of the questions you were curious about!

We will have a special guest for the Science segment of this workshop: Marc Siepman. Marc is a Dutch permaculture teacher, a published author and translator of international nature education books, and an expert on soil life and the soil food web. He will provide insights into the dynamic relationships and systems in the soil and discuss our human connection with the soil.Marc is keen for participants to bring a soil sample along with them to the workshop so he can explore what soil actually is with them.

Participants should collect a few spoonfuls of topsoil from a place local to them and bring it along to the workshop for a fun activity.

Note: when you register, there will be a pay form but you will not be required to fill any card information in., only your name and address. We apologise for the confusion or inconvenience, but it’s built into the registration system.
